[September 10, 2016]: The Blue Diamonds VS team started the fall season with a hard fought 28-23 victory over perennial rivals TCA Trojans. The Diamonds took the lead immediately within the first 10 seconds when Malynn tapped the opening tip to Janet, who raced down the floor and scored on a driving layup. The Diamonds never looked back and held on to the lead for the remainder of the game. Aggressive defense and strong rebounding were key factors that allowed the Diamonds to stay in control the entire game.

Playing in her first game as a Blue Diamond, Gabby showcased her talents and athleticism while leading all scorers with 10 points, including 4 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Shelbi (8 rebounds and 1 blocked shot), also playing in her first game as a Blue Diamonds, added significant rebounding support on both ends of the floor.

Zee Zee made the play of the game in the fourth quarter with less than 2 minutes remaining after the Trojans cut the lead to 23-21. On the next possession, Zee Zee crossed over the top defender and split two defenders to sink an incredibly athletic drive, getting fouled in the process, to put the Diamonds up 25-21 and putting a halt to the Trojans comeback attempt. Then, with approximately 40 seconds remaining, Gabby put the final nail in the coffin, sinking a midrange shot just right of the key for the final score of 28-23. The Diamonds played tough the entire game!

Other strong performances came from Janet (6 points, 2 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal); Aashika (4 points, 7 rebounds, 4 steals and 1 assist); Aliya (4 points, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot); Zee Zee (3 steals and 2 points); Jordan (5 rebounds and 1 steal) and Kayla (4 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal and 1 blocked shot).
