[October 8, 2016] In a battle for first place, the Blue Diamonds/VS team took on unbeaten MI Sports Elev8 and lost a close game by the score of 21-18. The Diamonds started the game with cold shooting and were shutout 5-0 in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Malynn (5 points, 4 rebounds, 1 blocked shot and 1 steal) sparked a turnaround for the Diamonds with her aggressive energy on both ends of the court. By halftime, the Diamonds were able to pull within two, 7-5. The game was close the remainder of the way as the Diamonds continually attacked the basket and drew fouls. Unfortunately, the team was not able to capitalize as the Diamonds shot a dismal 3 for 19 from the free throw line. Adding to an exciting finish, Janet (3 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist) hit a 3 point shot with 25 seconds remaining to pull the Diamonds within 3 which ended up being the final margin of defeat.

Possibly the biggest highlight of the game came in the third quarter when Jordan (2 points, 2 rebounds and 1 blocked shot) converted on a beautiful floater after taking off from the foul line which sparked a mini run by the Diamonds. Aashika (4 points, 5 rebounds, 1 steal and 2 blocked shots) and the rest of the team also had solid performances.
